Went for a walk at Woodlands Waterfront this evening. Met lots of residents, young and old. Many brought their kids, some were exercising, others were just enjoying the fresh air and greenery.
These two retirees, old friends of each other, have lived in Woodlands for 40 years. They used to work for the Royal Navy. I wonder how many of the park visitors know this history – Sembawang used to be the British Naval Base, and later the Royal Malaysian Navy had a base there called KD Malaya. But today Woodlands Waterfront is a green oasis, and on the old jetty where warships used to berth now couples court and fishermen try their luck. - LHL
